A man is to face trial accused of paying a schoolgirl to kick him in the groin.

Victor Trowell faces a charge of "intentionally causing" the girl, aged 13 to 14 at the time, "to participate in a sexual activity, in that you did compel her to kick you in the groin in exchange for money".

Trowell, 41, is also accused of sending her text messages "propositioning her sexually in exchange for money", sending her a "sexual written communication" and commenting, verbally, about her underwear.

He is further accused of touching the girl sexually, and placing a phone with a video recording facility in a bathroom where she was showering in an attempt to record her doing so.

It is alleged the purposes of the video bid was to enable "himself or another" to observe, who cannot be named for legal reasons, doing a private act.

He is further accused of repeatedly entering a bedroom in which she was changing, without warning, so as to observe her in a state of undress.

The incidents are said to have taken place at a location in Clackmannanshire over a 13-month period, between January 1, 2014 and January 27 last year.

At Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday, Trowell, of Alloa, Clackmannanshire, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Defence solicitor Robert Smith told the court: "This is a reduction to summary proceedings from solemn proceedings, and legal aid is not yet in place in terms of the summary complaint."

He asked for the court to order a further preliminary hearing, to take place before Trowell's trial, which was scheduled for March 23.

Sheriff David Mackie continued the case for a further pre-trial hearing on March 21, and said that if legal aid had not been granted by then, the court would appoint a solicitor to act on Trowell's behalf.
