A MAN lost his rag when his partner smashed a bottle of Buckfast on the ground.

On Thursday at Alloa Sheriff Court, Richard Beresford admitted shouting and swearing at his former home address in the town's Katrine Court on December 18 last year.

Fiscal depute Ruairidh Ferguson told the court that the accused returned home at about 7.30pm on the night of the incident and was drinking from a bottle of Buckfast.

His partner got angry as she did not want him consuming alcohol in front of their son, so she took the bottle outside and smashed it on the ground.

An argument ensued between the couple to which Beresford shouted, swore and stated: "You better not phone the police."

Neighbours, who heard the glass smash and the commotion that followed, called the cops.

Beresford, of Fir Park in Tillicoultry, also admitted failing to look after a child in his care on July 18 last year at the same address in Alloa's Katrine Court.

The 43-year-old failed to supervise the five-year-old, to which the youngster left the premises unaccompanied and was found alone outside wearing wet clothes.

Defence agent Claire McCarron claimed that Beresford accepted full responsibility for his actions.

Sheriff David Mackie sentenced Beresford to a Community Payback Order with supervision for 12 months.
