FORMER Alloa Athletic player Phil Roberts has been cleared of assault.
The 22-year-old was due to stand trial at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday charged with seizing a woman and pushing her against a wall to her injury.
Prosecutors had claimed the offence took place on March 15, 2015, while Roberts was on loan at Alloa from Dundee FC.
But the player's not guilty plea was accepted on the day of the trial and he was acquitted.
However, he did admit a charge of failing to appear in court in October last year and was fined £100.
Roberts spent the second half of the 2014-15 season at Alloa, making only a handful of appearances for the club.
