A TEENAGER has admitted stealing his neighbour’s car and driving around Alloa while more than twice the limit.

As reported in the Advertiser previously, the 16-year-old pinched the vehicle near his home on July 24 this year, while unfit to drive and later assaulted a police office by scratching her hand.

Just days before that, he was arrested for spouting racially-offensive remarks before trying to headbutt an officer at Falkirk Police Station.

The youngster, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday for sentencing.

He admitted that on July 16, at Earn Court in Alloa, at Falkirk Police Station and places in between, he did behave in a threatening and abusive manner in that he did shout, swear, behave in an aggressive manner and use racially-offensive language.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting a police officer by attempting to headbutt him on the same day. The teen was released, but eight days later he stole the car from an address in Alloa while under the influence.

When subjected to a breath test, he blew a reading of 49 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath – well above the 22mg limit.

He was taken to Falkirk Police Station when he seized the officer by the hand and scratched her.

Several other charges, including dangerous driving, driving without insurance and without a licence were accepted by the Crown.

Defending, Claire McCarron claimed that her client was “mature and responsible” for accepting responsibility. She stated that he had “little recollection” of the events.

Sheriff David Mackie sentenced the teenager to a CPO with supervision for two years and 90 hours of unpaid work to be completed within six months.

The youngster was also ordered to attend alcohol counselling and was disqualified from driving for a year.
