A MAN who was caught outside with a knife told police officers it was to cut "pizza".

On Thursday at Alloa Sheriff Court, Andrew McPhee admitted repeatedly uttering offensive remarks towards two constables and making threats against their families at Falkirk Police Station on November 22, 2016.

The 25-year-old also pleaded guilty to breaking previously set bail conditions on New Year's Day.

Fiscal depute Ruaraidh Ferguson explained that McPhee was prohibited from entering Alloa's Hutton Park and from contacting his gran. However, on January 1 this year he entered his grandmother's house in that street.

The accused eventually left, but was found by police nearby. When searched, a knife was recovered from his inside-left jacket pocket.

McPhee told the officers: "It's for pizza."

Defending, Stuart Burgess claimed that his client attended his gran's house to wish everyone a happy New Year. The accused had found out his sister was pregnant and wanted to congratulate her.

Mr Burgess stated that the blade found by police officers was a butter knife.

McPhee, of Engelen Drive in Alloa, was said to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Sheriff David Mackie ordered a Forth Valley Substance Treatment Service report, adjourning the case until February 23.
