A COALSNAUGHTON man was slapped with a fine for getting behind the wheel without insurance.

Last Wednesday at Alloa's Justice of the Peace Court, Arran Macmillan admitted the offence, which took place in the town's Whins Road on May 20 last year.

Fiscal depute Ruaraidh Ferguson told the court that Macmillan, of Main Street, was offered to pay a fixed penalty when he was pulled over.

Representing himself, 24-year-old Macmillan explained that he initially accepted the six points and £300 fine, but when he went to pay it there was an issue with his details. By the time the problem was sorted, the accused had been ordered to court.

Justice Stuart Fair accepted the explanation, endorsing Macmillan's licence with the original six points and £300 fine.
