A YOUNG man was handed a prison sentence for driving without a licence or insurance.

Last Wednesday at Alloa's Justice of the Peace Court, Paul Domanski pleaded guilty to the road traffic offences, which took place in Tillicoultry's Hareburn Road on September 5 last year.

Fiscal depute Ruaraidh Ferguson told the court that the police were called by a concerned member of the public.

When 22-year-old Domanski was traced behind the wheel, it was discovered that he didn't have the proper paperwork in place.

Defending, Mr McFarlane explained that his client was "manic at the time" due to mental health issues.

Domanski, of Tilly's High Street, had impulsively bought the car during one of his episodes. The motor has since been seized, however the accused has no intention of claiming it back.

Initially, Justice Stuart Fair endorsed Domanski's licence with six penalty points and fined him £400. However, as the accused is currently serving a six month sentence for another crime, Justice Fair converted the fine into 28 days of jail time to be served concurrently with his other punishment.
