A DRINK-DRIVER made a foolish decision to move her car while still under the influence.

On Thursday at Alloa Sheriff Court, Catherine Cameron admitted driving a motor vehicle with 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - exceeding the limit of 22mg - in Clackmannan's Craigrie Terrace on February 28 this year.

Fiscal depute Laura Knox told the court that police received an anonymous phone call at around 9pm, reporting that a car was blocking the Wee County street.

Officers attended and found the abandoned motor to be causing an obstruction.

A witness made herself known to the police and admitted that the accused was in her home after having issues moving her car. Cameron, 50, was asked to provide a specimen of breath and was thereafter arrested.

Defending, Jim Savage explained that his client was drinking earlier in the day and made the "silly decision" to collect her car - which was parked away from her home - so as she could drive straight to work in the morning.

However it was noted that the accused, of Clackmannan's Zetland Street, would also have been over the limit the following day given her alcohol reading.

Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill took into account the fact that Cameron was a first time offender, but stated: "The reading here is very high.

"Drink driving is not to be condoned."

Cameron was thereafter disqualified from driving for 15 months and fined £400.
