A FATHER of four who took a meltdown during the New Year festivities has been slapped with a fine.

Last Wednesday at Alloa's Justice of the Peace Court, Graham Christie admitted attempting to resist arrest by swinging his arms around, kicking out his legs and struggling violently with two female constables at his home address on January 2 this year.

The 46-year-old, of Carse Terrace in Alloa, also pleaded guilty to seizing one of the coppers by the hand and applying pressure.

When interviewed by police later, the accused had "no idea" why he kicked off and could not remember assaulting the PC.

Defending, Chris Macfarlane explained that it had been a stressful festive season for his client.

Christie had "1001 things to do" in the family home and felt he was not getting the help he wanted.

Turning to booze to cope with the pressure, the "emotions on the day in question got a bit too much for him".

Mr Macfarlane stated: "Alcohol was at the heart of this incident."

Christie, who was supported in court by his partner, was said to be embarrassed by his behaviour and has barely touched a drop of drink since the incident.

Although the accused had "little memory" of the event, he turned up to the police station the following day to apologise.

Mr Macfarlane added: "He accepts that he acted in a totally unacceptable way.

"He has bitter regret over his actions and is at a loss he acted in this way.

"He wants to be a role model for his kids."

Justice of the Peace Michael Bromby fined the accused £300.
