A MAN who entered a high street bank armed with a knuckleduster has been ordered to a year’s supervision after being sentenced at Alloa Sheriff Court.

John Mrozs, whose address was given as Canal Street, Perth, was accused of entering Royal Bank of Scotland, Alloa, on April 21, with a knuckleduster in his possession without a reasonable excuse.

He was also found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis when he was searched.

Mrozs, 34, faced a third charge from January 20, in which he behaved in a threatening manner by shouting and swearing at his partner on Lornshill Crescent, Alloa.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges and according to his solicitor, Ms Kelly, he accepted responsibility for his actions.

She said: “He accepts in hindsight he should have gone to the police station to hand in the knuckleduster.”

Ms Kelly went on to tell the court that her client was in fear at the time because of a previous assault which he had been subjected to and this was the reason that he failed to go to police in the first place with the weapon.

She also said that the reason he was in possession of cannabis was because he suffered anxiety which stemmed from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and using the banned substance allowed him some relief from his symptoms.

Sheriff Mackie sentenced Mrozs to be supervised for a period of 12 months.
