A WEE COUNTY woman assaulted her own mother after accusing her of speaking with her former boyfriend.

Amy Muir appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday after pleading guilty to the vicious attack which took place on August 13, 2017.

She carried out the attack at around 8.30pm, striking her mum and her younger sister for turning on her mother again.

Susannah Hutchison, prosecuting, told the court that the accused went to her mum’s address on Henderson Avenue, Alloa, and was highly intoxicated when an argument erupted.

She then proceeded to punch her mum and sister before her mum sought refuge in her bedroom upstairs.

Muir, however, followed her and began struggling with her before assaulting her again by punching her on to the bed.

The accused's sister watched the violent struggle and phoned police who then arrested enraged 21-year-old.

Kristina Kelly, defending Muir, told the court that her client is a single mother who suffers from post-natal depression and on the night in question mixed alcohol with her medication.

“It had an adverse effect and she just snapped,” the lawyer told the court.

She added: “She [Muir] was paranoid that her mum was speaking to the father of her baby behind her back.”

Muir, of School Terrace, Coalsnaughton, has since made up with her family.

Sheriff David Mackie deferred sentence for three months for Muir to be of good behaviour.
