STEVIE McCRORIE is gearing up for a "special night" in Alloa next month as he headlines a full-band show at the town hall.

The Alva singer will take to the stage on Friday, February 3, armed with a few surprises for the near-sell-out audience.

Not only is the performance being filmed, but the band will be joined on stage by a choir for a part of the set list.

However, Stevie told the Advertiser that the gig will be the last big show from him in the near future, as he continues work on his second album.

He said: "It's going to be a great; a bit of a local hometown show, and it's close to selling out at the minute.

"It's going to be the last full band show for a wee while, so I'm planning on making it a special night.

"We're going to be doing songs from Big World, a few new covers and maybe some stuff from Stevie and the Moon.

"I've never had a choir on stage with me before; they'll be there for a few songs this times, so I am hoping that works out.

"We're going to be filming it as well, so hopefully the crowd there will be on form."

He added: "It should be a great atmosphere, seeing as it is a local gig. I'm looking forward to having a bit of a laugh with everyone.

"That's what it's all about, playing to those who have supported me from the start and throughout the year with my album."

Earlier this month, Stevie celebrated the one-year anniversary of his first album, which peaked at number four in the Scottish album charts.

But with little backing to promote the record, he later parted ways with his record company.

Now, Stevie will be looking to write and release his follow-up in 2017 and says he is already set on the direction he wants to take with it.

"It's a hard industry," he said. "It's been a crazy few years, and I feel I've handled that the best I could have.

"I know the direction I want to take with the second album; it will be full band, and a little more upbeat than Big World.

"The first album was a bit serious and sentimental. I want to have a little more fun with the next one and I think it will definitely be a bit more raw.

"Big World was a little more radio-friendly, but I'm not so much interested in that this time."

In the meantime, the singer is keen to kick off the year with a bang, and in a venue bursting at the seams.

And when asked if he would have to get into fireman mode to make sure the town hall wasn't beyond capacity, Stevie joked: "Oh, no. I leave the firefighting job at the station. I'm sure we can squeeze a few more in there."
