LEWIS Watson is gearing up to release his second studio album into the wild.

To whet our appetite ahead of midnight's release on March 24, the Oxford-based singer-songwriter has dropped lead single forever - a laidback anthem with reflective lyrics coupled with beautiful three-part harmonies.

Lewis told the Alloa Advertiser: "Midnight is a much more optimistic record. There's quite a few happy bops on there. It’s bigger sonically, lots of guitar sounds, a few synths, organs, etc. but it still has those super close moments.

"There’s actually one song that is one-take on one mic. I didn’t want to stray too far away from where I started, that’s important to me."

After the success of seven intimate performances in the UK across November and December, Lewis will embark on a headline tour from March in support of the album.

He will be playing at The Garage in Glasgow on Monday, March 27.

Lewis said: "I love Scottish shows and I've really missed touring with the band so I'm itching to get back out there.

"The show's getting bigger and bigger every tour. We're a five-piece band now and we make a lot of noise.

"I still get rid of the band for those really intimate songs too though.

"I lust for that vulnerability of being completely alone on stage for a few songs."

Highlights over the last 12 months include releasing the first song from his second album.

Lewis added: "That was a big moment for me. I was terrified that people had forgotten/moved on from my music, but after releasing that song I realised that everybody was still there and as excited to hear new music as I was to release the new music.

"It's a great feeling.

"Another moment was being in the same room as the strings whilst recording their part for my song ‘deep the water’.

"That moment was so overwhelming for me. I certainly won’t be forgetting that."
