Dear Editor A few weeks ago, in this newspaper, I predicted that the “extra powers” promised in the now infamous vow cobbled together by the Labour and Tory pals in better together would be “too little too late”.

Dear editor The Scottish Parliament is to be congratulated on passing anti-alcohol legislation to reduce the blood/alcohol limit for motorists thereby significantly reducing deaths and injuries on our roads. This has been done in the face of considerable opposition from the alcohol trade.

Dear Editor I guess it was a case of close but not close enough for our local MSP Keith Brown in the SNP deputy leadership contest. Since Mr Brown polled 44% of the vote, I wonder if he will be calling for another leadership election or is 45% the threshold for demanding a re-run ?
