A WEE County writer has injected a flavour of 50 Shades into her debut novel.

Aimee Duffy (26), from Alloa, released The Monster of Fame last month and hopes the raunchy scenes will attract an appreciative readership.

The story, revolving around an X Factor-style reality contest, follows character Annabelle MacIntosh as she enters to save her family from their mounting debt.

Miles Oliver, celebrity judge and owner of the biggest record company in the UK, doesn't think she has what it takes. After watching his wife fall under the pressure of fame, he does everything within his power to make sure Annabelle doesn't succeed because he doesn't believe she'll survive it.

Annabelle needs that prize money, and she's determined to win it. As she battles through each round of the contest, a fascination begins to develop between the two adversaries. The longer Annabelle remains in the competition, the deeper her attraction grows to the man who's trying to prevent her from reaching her goal. In the end, can she convince Miles she's strong enough to fight the fame monster and win?

Aimee has two more tales to write in the series - the second already on its way to her editor.

Aimee, who works in a solicitors' office by day, has been writing on and off for years.

She told the Advertiser, "Two years ago I picked up Stephen King's On Writing and it inspired me to start writing seriously."

Finding inspiration from television, books and films, she added, "I'd say this story was definitely inspired by reality singing shows, like the X Factor and The Voice."

Aimee has boxes and shelves stacked with books and has a Kindle full of stories. She reads across genres, but has a penchant for young adult, contemporary romance and thrillers.

Her plans for the next 12 months include a lot more writing.

She said, "I'm working with Mills & Boon in London on a chick-lit type romance. I have another book, Isle of Sensuality, out in January and amongst other things, I would like to write a Young Adult fantasy trilogy."

The Monster of Fame is available from amazon.co.uk, Kindle price 3.18.
