A BRUCE Springsteen tribute act could be starring in a new film produced by renowned filmmaker Ridley Scott (Alien, Bladerunner).

The Rising, whose band members are from Clackmannanshire and Stirling, have been contacted by Ridley Scott Associates to supply material for a new documentary feature on the American musician.

The film entitled "Springsteen & I" is inspired by Scott Free London's critically acclaimed feature film Life in A Day - which was composed from thousands of hours of contributed YouTube footage from across the globe documenting 24 July 2010.

Irene Lawrie, vocalist for The Rising, said, "They are trying to get as much information as possible about how Springsteen has impacted on people's lives and what he means to them. It is about Springsteen's career through the eyes of his fans.

"They had identified us as the UK's number one Springsteen tribute band and were looking for material and interviews with the band and footage from live gigs. We are obviously very excited about getting involved." The Rising has been together for four years but each member has been involved with bands for over 20 years.

Their next gig will be at McQ's in Bannockburn on 28 December.

Springsteen & I has been described by producers Ridley Scott Associates and Black Dog Films as "the ultimate collective filmmaking experience - for the people and by the people".

A website has been created for fans to upload material - deadline midnight on 6 December - to be used in the documentary.

The website reads, "We are searching for a wide variety of creative interpretations, captured in the most visually exciting way you can think of, whether you've been a hardcore Tramp since '73 or have heard one of his songs for the first time today!" The documentary will be directed by Baillie Walsh and released in cinemas next year.
