LEG waxing and fundraising came together for a nail-biting event at a Sauchie beauty salon.

A fantastic night in aid of Strathcarron Hospice was held in Belleza Beauty on Friday (18 September).

Organiser Karen Anderson teamed up with salon owner and friend Claire Ritchie for the event which raised more than £400.

And what started out as a joke between a few pals led to two Wee County men, Barry Robertson and John Gibson, having their legs and chests waxed for the cause.

On the night people were invited to rip off a strip, to take their chances with the raffle and to enjoy some nibbles and fizz all in aid of the good cause.

Claire told the Advertiser: “It turned out to be a really, really good night. There was a good turnout.

“I kind of thought with the people that were coming in and handing in donations that we would get at least £200, but the fact that we’ve doubled that is just amazing.”

She continued: “I’d like to say thanks to everybody for their support, their donations and a big thank you to Barry and John.

"If it wasn’t for them putting themselves forward, that night wouldn’t have happened.”

Strathcarron Hospice provides specialist care and support for anyone affected by terminal illness.

On choosing to fundraise for the charity Karen - who is studying an HNC Working with Communities - said it is a worthwhile cause.

She said all the money goes towards helping staff in the work they do, along with keeping the hospice running.

Karen added: “Thank you to everybody that sponsored the boys and that came on the night and also to people that donated raffle prizes.”
