PICK up new skills, meet like-minded others and enjoy some camaraderie with The Wee County Men’s Shed.
The Clackmannanshire-based project now has premises at the Glenochil Nurseries, Menstrie, and is throwing open its doors on Friday (25 September).
Committee member Graham Reece said: “We’re holding an open day to try and get guys to come down, see if they like it and join.
“It’s open to anybody over the age of 18, but primarily it’s aimed at retired guys – guys with time on their hands.”
It is based on an idea pioneered in Australia where communal sheds were established to improve the health of men and their opportunities for social interaction, education and quality of life.
The concept moved to the UK and the local shed is a friendly environment, catering for men of all interests, ages and cultures. A registered charity, it offers the opportunity for gents to simply grab a coffee and a chat, or enjoy some quiet time reading,
There are plenty of activities and projects to keep people busy, such as recycling furniture, woodworking, glass etching and more.
Head along to the open day between 1-4pm at the premises on Alva Road for more information.
Thanks are extended to Clackmannanshire Council and local councillors for their assistance.
