TWO police constables were taken to hospital last week after being assaulted during an incident in Alloa.

Last Wednesday (23 September), officers were called out following reports of a male causing a disturbance outside a property on McKinlay Crescent.

They then traced the culpirt Robert Bruce on Argyll Street who then attacked them, to their injury.

One officer was kicked in the head during the incident, while the other was struck with a "plastic casing" believed to have been part of a gas meter palced outside the house.

Bruce appeared from custody on Thursday (24 September) and admitted two counts of police assault, a breach of the peace and one charge of vandalism.

He did "conduct himself in a disorderly manner" on both Argyll Street and McKinlay Crescent and did shout, swear and utter threats of violence.

Bruce then assaulted one police officer by punching him on the head, causing him to fall to the ground and thereafter did strike him on the head and body with a plastic casing, all to his injury.

He attacked the other cop by kicking him on the head and striking him on the head and body to his injury.

Bruce also pleaded guilty to damaging a car window on McKinlay Crescent by throwing stones.

He was then released on bail, but has since been picked up for allegedly breaching the terms of his curfew.

His defence agent vehemently denied any wrongdoing in terms of breaches, while sentencing on last Wednesday's offences has been deferred until the end October.
