COMMUNITIES in Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil have rallied together to ensure Remembrance Sunday is observed with “respect and dignity” this year.

The local community council has been working with the local authority and church leaders so that this year’s Armistice Day is marked without interruption.

Organising for this year’s commemoration required additional effort this year due to the essential repairs and refurbishment of the Lychgate next to the War Memorial.

However, the organisers harnessed the combined efforts of the community council, the church, Clackmannanshire Council and a host of community volunteers.

Lee Dickson, vice chair of the Tullibody, Cambus & Glenochil Community Council, said: “Remembering those who fell during war is so important to so many people. We have not been short of volunteers and people to help organise the various elements of the event.

“We appreciate all the effort that members of our community, council staff and elected members have made and would like to thank everyone for their support.”

St Serf’s Church will lead the worship at 10.45am with a two-minute silence at 11am along with the laying of wreaths and presentation of flags during the service.

It will be followed by a procession to the War Memorial and commemoration ceremony at 12.30pm. All members of the community are welcome to attend the church and services.

There will be a community clean-up at the War Memorial the day before the commemoration.

Anyone who would like to lend a hand is invited to come along on Saturday, November 7, at 10am.
