RESONATE Arts House in Alloa has received a £7,000 award from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s Coalfields Community Investment programme to help pay for someone to run their print and design business.

Resonate runs a multi-faceted arts and crafts facility in Alloa, offering a wide range of opportunities and activities to service users of all ages and abilities.

As well as crafts classes the group operates personal development sessions on assertiveness, creativity, relaxation and self-esteem. Their programmes include a business start-up club run in conjunction with the business and economic unit of Clackmannanshire Council.

Resonate also runs a printing and design service, serving local clients and Signpost, CVS Falkirk and CEIS Glasgow. A print worker is required to take on the full-time running of the business as well as delivering printing workshops and teaching volunteers printing skills.

Angela Beardsley of Resonate said: “We are extremely grateful to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust for their support in filling this post.

“The print work income helps us fund a lot of our services, where we use the medium of art to help people ‘find themselves’, gain confidence and in many cases move onto new jobs, careers or further education.”

Bob Young, Scottish trustee of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, said: “Resonate is a highly effective organisation, providing a wide range of services and support to the local community, as well as adding to the area’s cultural development by hosting international seminars with world-leading speakers”.

“We are happy to fund them because their work puts them at the heart of the local community and meets many of our objectives.”
