WORK has nearly been completed on a £1.7 million project to reduce the risk of flooding in Kirk Street, Kincardine and the surrounding area.

An event was held with pupils from Tulliallan Primary School where they showed representatives from Scottish Water around the school.

They demonstrated their artistic skills by showing off the drawings they had done to raise awareness about safety around building sites.

These drawings had been blown up into huge banners and placed around the building site.

This work is being completed soon in the grassed area to the rear of Tulliallan Primary School, where tanks are being installed under the grass to store water during heavy rainfall.

A new sewer has been laid to carry flows to the tanks and this offers relief for the rest of the waste water network in the area.

Consequently there will be less risk of sewers, drains and road gullies overflowing during times of heavy rainfall.

Charles Paul, project manager, Scottish Water said: “There has been no disruptions to services during this work and we worked closely with Fife Council, Tulliallan Primary School and the local community to minimise any disruption.

“Our contractors Morrison Construction will be completing this work soon on our behalf. They have done a great job in challenging conditions to complete this work within the project schedule.

“We would like to thank local residents for understanding and co-operating with us while we complete this essential work.”
