AFTER three hours on stage, three costume changes and forty songs, the sold-out Johnny Lee Memphis show on Saturday has been hailed as his “best ever concert”.

The Coalsnaughton man, officially the sixth-best Elvis tribute act in the world, delighted the 500-strong crowd with a sample of The King’s glittering back catalogue.

And the star, real name Jon Fleming, is eyeing a return to Alloa Town Hall again next year, with the possibility of a two-night event.

He said: “It was such a great crowd; the atmosphere was electric. I would go as far as to say it was the best show I’ve ever done there.

“I always expect Alloa to be a great gig, but this year it surpassed my expectations.

“Everyone was really great; they were all joining in and rocking out. That’s the thing about Elvis, everyone knows more than they think.”

During Saturday’s show Jon dedicated his rendition of If I Can Dream to the victims of the Paris attacks – a gesture well received by those in the audience.

Indeed, this idea is in keeping with Elvis’ own decision to dedicate the song to JFK after he was assassinated in the 1960s.

Unlike previous Johnny Lee Memphis shows where the town hall was set out in tables, the huge demand for tickets meant the floorplan had to be reviewed to accommodate the bigger audience.

Jon (40) said: “It’s the first time it’s been sold out in that format with around 500 people in the town hall.

“But I don’t like that some people wanted to go but were not able to get a ticket, so I think maybe next year I’ll try todo two nights.

“If I could do cabaret-style nights then more people would still get to see the show.”

And if demand continues to swell, Jon is not ruling out the idea of doing the back-to-back shows as a two-part event.

Given the wealth of material to choose from, the Friday night show would be geared towards songs from Elvis’s earlier career, with the Saturday show encompassing later releases.

In the meantime, Jon has his eyes on returning to Memphis for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest 2016, having come sixth earlier this year.

Though he performed last year after winning the qualifier in Canada, he is determined to win the UK event after coming in second there two years in a row.

Elsewhere, he is committed to joining Michael Jackson and Freddy Mercury tribute acts for a legends of rock and roll and pop event in Blackpool next October.

And not content with just performing, Jon will be hosting the inaugural Scottish Elvis Festival at the Inchrya Grange Hotel in Grangemouth on April 8-10 next year.
