Information is being sought to help trace Sauchie man Bernard Smith, who may have travelled as far south as London.

Local Police Scotland officers are appealing for information to help find the man, who has been reported missing from the town over the weekend.

The 51-year-old left his home address at around 9.45pm on Saturday in his blue Mercedes Sprinter van, registration number JH58 JPH - he intended to travel to Cumbernauld.

He has not been in touch with family or friends since and concerns are growing for his welfare.

Inspector Martin Rutland, from the Alloa station, said: "Bernard's family are anxious to trace him and we are working hard to ensure he is found as quickly as possible.

"Officers are carrying out extensive inquiries and I'm today urging anyone who can help with this ongoing effort to come forward.

"We know that Bernard had said he was intending to travel to Cumbernauld and there is a chance that he may be in this area. There is a chance he may have travelled south as far as London as well.

"However, we are keeping an open mind that he is still in the vicinity of Forth Valley."

Mr Smith is described as white, five foot nine inches tall, of slim build, balding with short grey hair and he is normally clean-shaven. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms, a maroon-coloured hooded top with white writing in the front and white trainers.
