LADIES “had a ball” during a fantastic fundraising event at the weekend.

The charity night – in aid of Strathcarron Hospice and Prostate Cancer UK – was organised by Sauchie beauty salon owner Claire Ritchie.

Friends, family and supporters gathered for dancing and fundraising – collecting more than £1000.

Claire, who owns Belleza Beauty on Sauchie Main Street, said the ladies' night was “absolutely fantastic”.

She went on: “We had an amazing turnout believe it or not – I wasn't expecting so many folk with the weather.

“There was a jewellery stall, a disco and there was a raffle which was absolutely amazing; the amount of prizes that were there was phenomenal.

“Everybody seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves; they said they had an amazing time. They had a ball, it was really good.”

Long-time fundraiser Claire is passionate about raising funds for Strathcarron and regularly raises money for the charity.

However, she was also motivated to collect funds for Prostate Cancer as her uncle is receiving treatment for the disease.

Tickets for the evening sold out quickly and the total collected the night was £1472.

Claire paid tribute to those who showed their support, along with uncle Roy Robertson who secured raffle prizes and spoke about the Beatson charity during the event.

She thanked Sauchie Juniors Club for letting her hold the night there, Carol and Frances for the bar service, people who donated food for the buffet and those who gave raffle prizes.

The 32-year-old said: “I kind of hoped to reach the £1000 mark, but I never expected to raise nearly £1500.

“I want to thank everybody for coming because if it wasn't for them that night wouldn't have been a hit.”
