A man smacked his fiancée in the face during an argument.
On Thursday at Alloa Sheriff Court, Albert Hughes admitted assaulting his partner at their home address in Alva’s Johnstone Street on October 25, 2015.
Fiscal depute Ruairidh Ferguson told the court that the couple had been in a relationship for seven years and had a daughter together.
An argument over infidelity ensued during the early hours of the morning, to which the accused struck his partner on the face.
The police attended at 5.20am. Hughes confessed: “I’ve had an argument and punched her on the head and burst her lip.”
Defence agent Claire McCarron stated that it was an isolated incident and alcohol was involved.
The 33-year-old “very much regrets his behaviour” and is “ashamed” of his actions.
Ms McCarron added: “Both Mr Hughes and his partner want to draw a line under it.”
Sheriff Gillian Wade sentenced Hughes to a Community Payback Order with 180 hours of unpaid work to be completed within six months.
