FORMER SNP deputy leader Jim Sillars will be speaking at a RISE-organised event in Alloa this Friday.

Scotland's Left Alliance is hosting the meeting at 7pm to 8.30pm in the Thistle Bar.

Mr Sillars will be speaking alongside regional list candidate for Mid Scotland & Fife and local man Bryan Quinn.

Mr Sillars said: “I think a lot of constituencies will fall to the SNP.

“In my view, the use of the second list vote is an opportunity to support the election of outright unambiguously declared socialists in Holyrood next time.”

Mr Quinn added: “We have a radical plan to make Scotland work for everyone, not just the elite.

“We will scrap the council tax, replacing it with a fairer, income based tax to save the majority of people money.

“We will increase the top rate of income tax to 60 per cent to make the richest one per cent contribute their fair share.

“We will introduce free public transport to protect the environment and improve people's chances for work.

“We are not like other mainstream parties. Our MSPs will only take an average worker's wage.

“We do not accept donations from corporations or millionaires. We represent the millions not the millionaires.

“Come and hear our radical socialist plans to improve Scotland now and to create an independent socialist Scotland.”

The event is open to all.
