A WEE County venue has been selected to go onto the National Pub & Bar Awards Grand Final.

The Old Brewery, at East Vennel in Alloa, has been named the best in Clackmannanshire by organisers and will go through to the next round later this month.

Manager at the pub, Amanda Gerlach Squair, said: "We are very proud to be picked as a finalist for the pub awards.

"We have now been opened for nearly 11 years and it's great to still be recognised as the best pub in Clackmannanshire with lots of new openings in the area.

"We take pride in our customer service, serve quality food and beer reasonably priced and offer regular entertainment for our customers.

"The Old Brewery is a great place to work and socialise which is made even better with the great customer base who are loyal and great fun.

"Every walk of life, young and old frequent the Brewery and make it such an enjoyable place to work. If we are fortunate enough to win the award it will down to the hard work of the staff and all our customers."

The National Pub & Bar Awards has announced the best pubs from each county across the UK.

A total of 94 from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been picked as the best in their area and will now have the chance to be chosen as top in their region.

The inaugural awards, organised by Pub & Bar magazine, will see the County Winners entered into and invited to the final taking place at London’s iconic BAFTA theatre on Tuesday, May 24.

On the evening, 12 Regional Winners and one overall National Pub & Bar of the Year will be announced.

From perfect service to product range, aesthetic design or entertainment schedules, the County Winners have been selected by Pub & Bar magazine’s internal judging panel on all of the aspects required to provide ultimate hospitality within the on-trade.

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, said: "These pubs represent all that is great about the modern on-trade.

"You can only imagine the fantastic variety of operations we have discovered through the judging process – it’s been an absolute pleasure to investigate just how all of these incredible operators run their businesses.

"What’s great about the awards is that all the attendees of the grand final are already winners – we’re very much looking forward to celebrating with everyone at BAFTA in London on 24 May."
