A BABY was born on a bus in Alloa yesterday afternoon.
The number 62 First service was travelling along Whins Road at around 1.15pm when the driver became aware of the woman in distress.
He then pulled over next to Aldi and went to her aid.
Two inspectors with First, who had been in a van behind the bus, were then signalled to help and an ambulance was called.
The baby was born as the group awaited the paramedics' arrival, with the newborn wrapped in one of the inspectors' high-vis vests.
The ambulance crew then took over and the mother and baby were moved to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, where they are now both recovering.
A spokesperson for First said: "We pride ourselves on looking after our passengers, but assisting with childbirth is certainly out of the ordinary.
"Huge praise should go to the driver and both of our inspectors on our popular 62 service who looked after the mother and baby until emergency services arrived on the scene. It's certainly a first for First in the area."
