WEE COUNTY band Vida are hosting a launch party in Glasgow tonight for their single Fade Away.

With support from Shambolics and The Mona Lisa's, the Clacks five piece will headline the city's O2 ABC venue this evening.

The single's release, along with its B-Side Switch it Off, has been a long time coming for the band which goes back to 2013.

Initially, Alloa's Jamie Pollock joined up with guitarist Nathan Evans, from Sauchie, and Clackmannan bass player Ross McShane.

They later recruited Sachie's Greg Ballantyne for keyboards and drummer Jamie Piggot from Glenochil.

Singer Jamie told the Advertiser: "It started off as us jamming but it was always going to be a serious band.

"We're all influenced by 90s Brit pop – bands like The La's, Stone Roses, Oasis, The Verve, The Bluetones, Shed 7 and Cast.

"There's also a little bit of the Beatles there in the melodies, but we're fans of Kasabian and things like that too."

The band were picked up by Midlands-based Sound-Hub Records last summer and recorded material a few months later.

They also shot a music video with Tenement TV, featuring shots from around the Ochil hills and surrounding areas.

Jamie, 22, added: "The video really gave a new dynamic to the song. It's a much better way to get the song out there and we're hoping it can reach a bigger audience."

Vida are hoping to get back into the studio later this year to record a three-track EP with Sound-Hub.

After playing in Glasgow this evening, the band will head over to the capital for a support gig at Sneaky Pete's on Saturday, May 28.

Tickets for tonight's gig are available online from Ticket Web, and the band's tracks can be purchased on iTunes here.

Meanwhile, tickets for the show in Edinburgh later this month can be purchased here.
