A WOMAN was trapped on the first floor of a house on fire in Sauchie earlier today.

The incident began around 10.18am at a residential property on Gartmorn Road and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews from Alloa Fire Station reached the scene within five minutes.

Thankfully she was rescued by firefighters, using a ladder, while the blaze was raging on the ground floor of the house.

Alloa and Hillfoots Advertiser:

Station manager Andy Bennett said: “The crew immediately moved to conduct a ladder rescue and brought the woman straight out via the first floor window.

“Our firefighters worked hard to put out the flames on the ground floor and ventilate the property.”

The woman was taken to hospital for further treatment after receiving first aid from the crews ahead of the ambulance's arrival.

She was found to be suffering from smoke inhalation and burns to her hand.

Police Scotland also attended the scene and closed off the road while the firefighters put the flames out.

Gartmorn Road was reopened around 11.30am.
