CLACKMANNANSHIRE schools are not thought to be among those targeted by telephone “threats”, the Advertiser understands.

Police released a statement this morning saying number of schools in the "central belt" had received threats, with some evacuated.

The vague term led a number of concerned parents to seek urgent clarification as to which schools had been involved.

Assistant chief constable Steven Johnson said: "Staff and police are working with local authorities and are currently searching school buildings.

“Some schools as a precautionary measure, have been evacuated. Significant enquiries are underway."

The Advertiser contacted the police and were told that there had been no reports of Wee County schools being targeted.

Clackmannanshire Council has also confirmed that no local schools are affected. A Facebook post said: "As you may be aware, Police Scotland has posted information about threats to schools in central Scotland.
"No Clackmannanshire schools are currently affected."
Police added that parents and guardians of pupils from the schools affected will be contacted by their local authority.
