THE glorious weather may be coming to an end soon as the Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain and thunderstorms.

The alert is currently in place in the Central, Tayside & Fife region, which covers Clackmannanshire and neighbouring counties.

Luckily, the warning says many places will remain dry this afternoon and while there is a very low potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms, if it does rain it will rain hard.

People should be aware of the possibility of surface water flooding and disruption to travel where torrential downpours do occur.

Thunderstorms are most likely to break out over high ground, but there is a chance these will drift into low lying urban areas. Downpours will be slow moving so there could me more than 20mm of rain in an hour, with more than 40 mm in a few hours.

The thunderstorms may be accompanied by hail and lightning strikes and the warning is in place until 9pm tonight.
