ALLOA’s new skatepark has officially been unveiled at the weekend.
The new 600sqm Tower Skatepark, adjacent to the Bowmar Centre, was officially opened at an event on Sunday with a range of fun activities on offer.
Community group Clackmannanshire Youth Voice played an important role in the project and the final design, suitable for all types of wheeled sports, was created with the input of local bikers and skaters.
Clackmannanshire Council says that following the establishment of the skatepark in Sauchie in 2013, which proved to be very popular with local young people, there was a significant demand for a similar facility elsewhere in the county. The Alloa project was initially given the green light that year, when the council’s leisure committee backed the idea unanimously.
The project received a funding boost of up to £100,000 from the Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund.
Local youngsters had the chance to show their skills off on the new park on Sunday and there were a range of activities for the community to enjoy including rides, slides, face painting, magician Ian MacDonald, a dance display by Popercise Dancers and more.
The new park was built using concrete by specialist contractors Bendcrete.
