THIS year's Tillicoultry Gala was cut a little short because of the rain at the weekend, but many locals came out to enjoy a day of family fun.

The events started with the traditional parade to the public park from Murray Square, led by gala queen Jodie McAuslane, king Shaun MacKie, attendants Hana Littlejohn and Jessica Fulton, page boy Archie Brown and flower girl Brooklyn Davidson.

The coronation took place in the park, this was followed by the fancy dress competitions and a display by Janet Snape Highland Dancers.

Charity and various other stalls, an assault course by Hillfoots Rugby Football Club, bouncy castles and slides, rides and the usual favourites kept the local community entertained in the afternoon.

Organiser Ian Millar, member of Tillicoultry Community Council, said: “It went well, unfortunately the rain came along around 3 o'clock so it put a bit of a damper on, we couldn't complete the scheduled programme.

“But before that, everything went tidy and the procession crowd was absolutely terrific.”

The children's races and mini-highland games were just starting with games like haggis hurling, wellie weeching and caber tossing lined up, but organisers had to call it a day early as the sky opened up.

Ian wanted to say thanks to everybody who came along to support the event and those who stayed even after the rain came in, his gala team for putting the event on. He also wanted to give a mention to Clackmannanshire Council for cleaning the park after a stormy Wednesday ahead of the gala.

Alloa and Hillfoots Advertiser:

The gala team will soon meet to discuss the feedback and start planning next year's event.

This year's gala was supported by EDF, Ochil Eyes, Dewar Brothers, Tillicoultry Quarries, Watersrule Solicitors, D McCulloch Contractors, Royal Arms, Co-op, Baynes, Diaego, Blossom Tree, Golf Nation, David Love, Clackmannanshire Council, McColls of Daiglen, Hillfoots Community Football Club, Caledonian Clasic Cars and more.
