Carruthers Welding Services has been nominated for this year’s Most Promising New Business Award.

Owner John Carruthers told the Advertiser: “I was in full-time employment, finished up in March 2014 and then started Carruthers Welding Services in April 2014.”

Over the past couple of years, the company has built up its client base and secured new contracts.

It provides a 24-hour service, seven days a week for emergency plant repairs and a mobile welding service.

John said: “I have one van fully equipped for mobile welding services and a fully equipped 4x4 for quarries, wind farms, and plant machinery off road that the van can’t get to.”

The company prides itself in its high quality standards and in April 2015 it was certified for BS EN ISO 9001:2008.

No job is too big for John and he will do his best to repair any broken equipment.

He said: “A pile crusher company approached me to see if I could manufacture a part.

“They sent me a PDF AutoCad drawing and I went and sorted it out. I got a great response and I’m getting more orders.

“I have a fully equipped workshop in Kelliebank in Alloa to help make jobs easier.”

After gaining his trade in welding and engineering, John worked for over a decade before taking the leap and starting up his own company.

He added: “I always wanted to work or own a company. It has been an experience.”
