POST Office services are coming back to Clackmannan in September, following new proposals.

As previously reported, the town was left with no services after the local-style office closed in February, but a public consultation is now underway as the postmaster at Kippen Post Office is planning to extend its mobile van service to the area.

The current proposals would see the mobile service at the town's Main Street close to the Co-op on Mondays 2.30pm to 4.30pm, Tuesdays 2pm to 4pm, Wednesdays 12.45pm to 1.45pm and Thursdays 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The mobile service would also stop near 116 Alloa Road in town on Wednesdays between 11.30am and 12.30pm. Altogether, the service would be in town for eight hours a week.

Local Labour councillor Kathleen Martin told the Advertiser: "I've been in continued contact with Post Office Ltd. since before services ceased earlier this year, as Clackmannan residents were very concerned that this would mean the town would be left permanently without postal services.

“I'm sure that this new proposal will be much welcomed, however, it's important that individuals share their thoughts on the proposed stops and times, so I would encourage all to share their views via the consultation.”

The public consultation will take six weeks, ending on August 31, and Post Office Ltd. Is hoping to hear how suitable the proposed locations and opening times are as well as any other comments or issues customers may have.

People can take part in the consultation via postofficeviews.co.uk, use codes 71086899 for the Alloa Road service and 71186899 for the Main Street. Alternatively, email comments@postoffice.co.uk or call 03457 22 33 44, textphone 03457 22 33 55.

Local households which received a letter about the proposals, residents should also be able to freepost their replies as well.
