THIS week marked the start of this year's Artden Summer School at Resonate Together in Alloa, with upcycling being the main focus for the days creative session.

The summer school, which started on Monday, is a two-week programme for young artists aged 5-12, with daily creative session culminating in a gallery exhibition of their work, which is open to the public.

Students use the variety of art techniques to develop their own skills, grow their confidence and have fun working with others.

Young Artist Beth Munro, pictured with summer school leader Hannah Stevenson and volunteer tutors, Kat McGuigan, Angela Beardsley and Fiona McLure from Resonate, are celebrating The Princess Chair.

Beth said: "I really like lots of different art; painting is my favourite, and when I made the princess chair I loved using all the glitter."

Among the many activities at the summer school are wire sculpture making, mosaic art works, T-shirt design and printing and yurt building.

This is also combined with mindfulness in every session to support each student with their own personal development.

Beth added: "I loved doing the self portrait, it was fun using the mirror and trying to paint myself."

The Artden ethos of Creativity takes Courage enables each young student to grow their positivity and celebrate their differences.

Hannah said: "Every child has the right to a happy childhood and art is a great connector; we have fun at Artden and each student, just like Beth, come back time and again."
