THIS summer brought another smashing Clackmannan Gala Day.

The weather stayed dry for the annual event which took place on Saturday, July 16 in King George V Park.

The packed schedule – put together by a gala committee of six – kicked off with a parade from the Main Street which led to an afternoon full of family fun.

Entertainment coordinator, Claire Conacher, said: "This year's gala was another huge success with a brilliant turn out. I'd like to thank our amazing gala party and the local community for their support year after year."

One of the highlights of the day was the crowning of gala queen Chloe Taylor, who was accompanied by her royal party of Sophie Johnston, lady in waiting, Lexi Bailey, flower girl, and Ethan-Ali Akgul, page boy.

The annual celebration was resurrected in 2013 after a 17-year absence and secretary Laura Fyall said it helps bring the community together, along with giving youngsters something to look forward to.

At the weekend, local residents had the opportunity to see a busy dog show and Cani-fit canicross demonstration, provided by Clackmannan Development Trust.

There was plenty to keep people entertained, such as face-painting, pipe band tunes, majorettes, inflatables and a balloon modeller.

Also lined up was animal man and Wee County dancers Just Dance, along with a rodeo bull, rides for children, stalls and more.

The day is made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the committee – busy all year round with bingo teas, discos and more – and the support they receive.

Thanks is given to all who turned up on the day, to those who helped set up, or lent a hand.

Laura said: "We would like to thank the local community for coming along and supporting us and the local businesses that have supported us for the last four years we have done it."
