A HANDFUL of brave contestants will face the judges this weekend at a fundraising X Factor event in Alloa.

The seven gusty souls will perform for the near sell-out audience at the town hall before enduring a nerve-racking vote.

Saturday's event is being arranged by Tesco's Laura Arnott to raise funds for Alloa youngster Lachlan Morris.

The eight-year-old suffers from severe cerebral palsy and needs specially-adapted equipment – some of which can cost thousands.

Parents Paul and Susan launched an online campaign to try and raise the £20,000 required to support Lachlan, and have already received some fantastic support from the community.

Around 200 tickets have already been sold for the event, though a handful are still available.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with the competition scheduled to begin at 7pm.

There will be a raffle and disco taking place afterwards, while attendees be asked to pay £1 to vote in the competition.
