TEAM Noble, the four guys who are gearing up to row across the Atlantic for charity, has received a welcome boost from supermarket Tesco.

As the Advertiser previously reported, Kris Elliot, 28, his brother Blair, 26, Iain Dickson, 28, and Allan Huntly, 48, are aiming to raise cash for the Fire Fighters Charity in memory of Alloa firefighter John Noble, who tragically passed away when a fire engine crashed on the A91 between Tillicoultry and Dollar in 2008.

The quartet are taking on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic challenge and will row 3000 miles, crossing the ocean in a 23ft boat, something only around 400 people have done in the world to date.

Tesco in Alloa has decided to support them along the way by supplying luxury and practical items for the epic journey.

Allan, who was also seriously injured in the crash which killed watch manager John Noble, said: “We are very grateful to Tesco for volunteering to support us.

“It is sure to be a long and arduous journey so little luxuries like a piece of chocolate can be a great psychological boost.”

Most of their food for the voyage, which will start in December 2017, will come in vacuum packed form, but Tesco community champion Melanie Mitchell and her team will provide items like sweets, chocolate, biscuits as well as toiletries, cleaning products and sun cream for Team Noble.

Melanie said: “We already do a lot of work with the local fire guys so when we heard about this incredible adventure we were keen to help and came up with the idea of helping out with some of their supplies, not only for the main event, but also for the smaller races they are using as training between now and then.

“It’s an incredible undertaking for a fantastic cause and we are delighted to be able to help.”
