FORTH Valley residents are being asked to share their experiences and views of hate crime.

The Central Scotland Regional Equality Council (CSREC) is urging people to take part in the Why Me survey before the end of the day on Friday, September 16. It is being conducted by the Scottish Alliance of Regional Equality Councils which CSREC is part of.

It is keen to find out what support people got following a hate crime and what other help they could have benefited from.

The results gathered from the Why Me survey will provide CSREC and its partners with evidence to increase its understanding of people’s experiences of hate crime, and an platform for receiving feedback and suggestions as to how victims might be better supported in the future.

Commenting, the manager of CSREC - the Forth Valley-based charity which combats discrimination and promotes equality and community cohesion - Arun Gopinath, said:

“We urge members of the public to take the time to participate in this important national survey as it will help us to understand the experiences of victims of hate crime better and use the evidence from the survey to work with all stakeholders to address the situation. The closing date for the survey is Friday, 16th September 2016.”
