MOBILE Post Office services are now available in Clackmannan, following the closure of the town’s local-style branch in February.
The mobile van from Kippen Post Office will be visiting each week near the Co-op on Main Street on Monday 2.30pm to 4.30pm, Tuesday 2pm to 4pm, Wednesday 12.45pm to 1.45pm and Thursday 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
It will also stop near 116 Alloa Road on Wednesday 11.30am to 12.30pm. Altogether, the service will be in town for eight hours a week.
Post Office Ltd says a wide range of services are available at the vans, including car tax and Euro as well as Dollar currencies for travel money. Customers will also be able to collect benefits in cash using everyday banking services or a Post Office card account.
Post Office field change advisor Angela Bettison said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the communities of Carnock and Clackmannan and we are confident this Mobile Outreach service will meet their needs and secure services for the future.”
She went on to say: “This is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
As previously reported, local Labour politician Councillor Kathleen Martin, who had been in contact with Post Office Ltd since the local postmaster resigned earlier this year, said residents were “very concerned” the town would permanently be left with no postal services.
Ahead of the start of the new services, the Post Office held a public consultation on the planned opening times and services, which have not changed since the original proposals in July.
