ALLOA woman Rebecca Starkie has reached and breached her target with a charity sky dive in aid of an animal shelter.
The 23-year-old took the plunge at Strathallan Airfield last weekend to help raise fund for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, which is based in London.
The avid pet lover said she was determined to support efforts to find “forever homes” for all kinds of animals.
And having set herself a £500 target, Rebecca was able reach her goal and bring in a little extra as well.
She said: “I smashed my target. I raised £535 and have another £20 to get from my work as well.
“It was amazing. such a long day though arrived at the airfield at 8am and didn’t leave until 5pm.
“I was that nervous I didn’t eat all day, but I was proper excited as well. It was so scary dangling out of the plane at 10,00ft up.
“I had a 32 second freefall at 125mph. I didn’t even scream, though; I was well impressed with myself.
Rebecca added: “I done it because it was for an amazing charity that is really close to my heart. I have had so much support and sponsors and I didn’t want to let them down.
“[The instructor] was just so down to earth and made me feel so relaxed. He was sitting signing away when we were on the way down. I’m not sure what song, I was just trying not to die.”
Last month, Rebecca told the Advertiser that the though of her two cats Daisy and Lola not having a home inspired her to fundraise.
She said: “I picked Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as I love all animals, especially cats and dogs. Every animal deserves a chance at life so I thought I would do something to try help them out as much as I can.
“I have two cats that mean the world to me and have a forever home. I couldn’t imagine what it must be like for the cats and dogs [without one].
