A TILLICOULTRY woman has raised £1,480 for Cancer Research in memory of her ‘mam’ who died of cancer two years ago.
Diane Kay decided to organise a bingo tea at Tillicoultry Bowling Club to raise some money for the charity researching a cure for cancer.
Diane said: “I wanted to do something for my mam as she always liked going to bingo teas at the bowling club.”
Plenty of local businesses got involved and donated prizes for the bingo and raffle. Individuals also donated to what was a brilliant fundraising effort.
Prizes included everything from wine and chocolates to vouchers for a Celtic home game, a tour of Celtic Park or a tour of Hampden Park and museum.
Diane would like to thank everyone who donated so generously.
The community came together for the event in memory of Liz Kay on September 28. There was a full house of about 100 people.
Diane had organised everything herself, but her dad and some of the bowling club members were on hand to help out during the night.
The night went so well that locals are keen for another one soon.
Diane added: “Some have said it was the best one they had ever been to. This was my first one and I may do another one in the future.”
