A SPECIAL night to raise money and awareness of Huntington’s disease will take place at the Station Hotel next month.

Karen Anderson and Christina Green, whose husband has the condition, decided around two months ago to plan a fundraiser and do something a bit different to raise awareness.

Friends wanted to do something out of the ordinary and set about booking a room and some entertainment. It all came together quickly and the event has a wide variety of attractions to suit all tastes.

Christina said: “We were looking for something different to do. There’s a big push on awareness of Huntington’s just now.”

It all came together very quickly in the last couple of weeks. When Christina and Karen put out the word on Facebook they were delighted at the reaction as 24 tickets were sold before they had even been printed.

The Station Hotel in Alloa kindly agreed to provide a room and buffet free of charge so every penny raised can go towards fighting the debilitating illness.

Local clairvoyant psychic Denise is happy to help. She does a range of readings including tarot cards, crystal ball and a floor show.

People booking for a future reading from the psychic will receive a discount.
The Hair Bistro in Tullibody will also give guests a 15 per cent discount on hair treatments.

Entertainment on the night will come from Roseashea Quartz whose act is sure to keep people amused during the evening.

D3mon Discos will provide the soundtrack and allow people to let their hair down until the early hours. They always promise a ‘hell’ of a night.

The staple of any fundraiser, the raffle will be present as always. This promises to have some amazing prizes including a bus tour of the Highlands for two and Psychic Denise has donated a full reading to one lucky winner.

Other prizes include two chances to win a family photoshoot and one individual photoshoot. Organisers are waiting on a whole host of other big prizes to be confirmed.

Representatives from the Scottish Huntington’s Association will also be at the event to remind everyone what a great cause they are helping and to raise awareness of the condition.

The fundraising night will take place on November 26 at the Station Hotel from 7pm until 1am.

Tickets cost £10 and are limited to 80.

They are available from the Station Hotel or the Hair Bistro in Tullibody where raffle tickets can also be bought.

The event is over-18s only.
