A CHILD'S pram was set alight on a family's doorstep last night, with fire bugs targeting a handful of properties in Tullibody.

Three incidents of fire-raising were reported to police between Wednesday, November 2 and early this morning.

At around 8pm on Wednesday, a Halloween decoration and a wicker hanging basket, which were attached to the house on Muirside Farm Cottage, were set on fire.

Officers said that "only good fortune prevented this act from causing major fire damage to this family home".

Two more incidents took place last night with the first taking place between 9.45pm and 10.30pm on Dovecot Road.

A police statement said: "A child’s pram that had been left at the front door of a house was deliberately set alight and totally destroyed. This mindless act in the short term left the family with no means to transport their child."

The second incident occurred at the Lodge Ladywell between 11pm and 1am with two wheelie bins going up in flames.

Firefighters attended and the blaze was quickly extinguished; however, the fire caused extensive damage to the rendering of the outside of the building.

The incidents are now subject to a joint investigation by Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

A police spokesperson said: "Fortunately no one was injured as a result of these fires; however, it could have had much more serious consequences.

"We are eager to speak to any witnesses who may have been in these areas of Tullibody at the relevant times, anyone with information that may assist us in our enquiries is asked to come forward immediately."

Anyone with any information can contact police in Alloa on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, should they wish to remain anonymous.
