A WOMAN from Sauchie bid goodbye to her long blonde locks recently and helped charities in the process.

Sheila McGhee decided to shave her head to raise money for research into bowel and ovarian cancer, both of which have affected her family.

She suffers from MS so had to come up with a more creative way to raise money than a charity run or walk.

Sheila explained: “I saw ‘Brave the Shave’ advertised on the TV and thought it would be a way I could raise money.”

Sheila had been growing her hair for two years and the cut was done at Morgan’s Hair Salon, Alloa, on Monday.

Staff carefully pleated the hair so it would be suitable to be sent away to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

One of the hardest things for Sheila was not being able to dye her hair the usual blonde. This was because the trust will not accept recently coloured hair.

Not all fundraising money has been collected yet but the brave lady is well on her way to making the £400 target she has set.
