A KINCARDINE man had the horrendous experience of discovering a pair of mutilated swan wings in the village last week.

The wings were found at Peppermill Dam last week and appear to have been cut meticulously from the bird.

Officials with the Scottish SPCA are investigating the "act of cruelty" and have asked for help from the public.

Shocked Reece Urbaniak, who lives in Kincardine, fishes regularly down by the dam and spotted the wings in the early hours of Thursday morning last week.

He said: "It was a bit of a shock to see something like that - I had never seen anything like it.

"I was going down there for fishing at about 6am to set up when I noticed something unusual lying on the grass.

"I didn't know what it was at first but I soon saw it was a swan wing. I then found another wing about 10 yards away.

"The cut looked very precise so I don't think it could have been from another animal.

"I went yesterday (Sunday) and there was only one lying there so maybe someone has taken the other one away."

The Scottish SPCA are dealing with the case and are looking for members of the public to call in with any information they may have regarding the incident.

An undercover inspector from the charity’s Special Investigations Unit said: “We are aware of a swan being found. We are currently investigating this specific act of cruelty and would urge anyone with information to contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
