A MAN who threatened to murder police officers has avoided punishment.

As reported in the Advertiser previously, Alexander Binnie admitted shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence and threats to kill at his home address on September 24 this year.

The 55-year-old, of Craigrie Road in Clackmannan, also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest by struggling violently with officers on the same date, as well as breaking previously set bail conditions by failing to show up at court as required without a reasonable excuse on August 22, 2016.

Alloa Sheriff Court heard that the police were alerted on September 24 to a male that was contemplating suicide.

The accused was thereafter traced at Stirling Train Station. He was described as upset because of the outcome of a custody case and wished to speak to the Samaritans.

Binnie was taken home to his 90-year-old mum’s house, where he stays in a caravan on the estate.

Unfortunately, due to his mother suffering from poor health she would not have been able to care for the accused if issues arose.

When Binnie was asked if anyone else could look after him, he told the officers: “You’re not making me leave my f*cking father’s home.”

Although the accused normally has a good relationship with his mum, he snapped: “You’re no f*cking mother to me.”

She understandably became upset at the comments.

When Binnie was told he was going to be arrested, he warned: “You’re not arresting me. I’ll f*ck the both of you.”

He thereafter struggled with the officers violently and attempted to break free before the handcuffs were secure.

He threatened: “Come on then. I’ll f*cking murder the both of you b*stards.”

On Thursday, defence agent Claire McCarron claimed that the offence happened at a time Binnie was struggling following the death of his partner.

Sheriff David Mackie admonished the accused, telling him: “I’m very sorry for your loss that led you to this.”
